Cigarette smoking kills more than 480,000 Americans each year, with more than 41,000 of these deaths from exposure to secondhand smoke,(http://www.cdc.gov). Cigarettes are an expensive, deadly drug. “Americans spend $80 billion on cigarettes per year, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,” (http://money.cnn.com). “16.7% of Americans from the age of 18-24 smoke. 22.9% of teenagers who haven’t even graduated yet smoke,” (http://www.cdc.gov). Five cigarettes a day can reduce lung function and growth in teens.

Most teenagers who smoke claim that they have attempted to quit but couldn’t.  Plenty say they wish they would have never started smoking in the first place. Cigarettes ruin live and pocketbooks.

Cigarettes are also a major factor in dental problems, which can be unattractive and very expensive. Oral cancer, gum disease, decay and stains are only a portion of what cigarettes can do to your dental hygiene. Cigarettes can cause poor vision, coughing, COPD, bronchitis, blood clots, heart disease, high cholesterol, yellow fingers, wrinkly fingers, smelly hair, diabetes complications, cancer connections, cervical cancer, infertility, and problems with pregnancy.

Drop the cigarettes today and start working on your own health. You will thank yourself in the long run when you are eighty years old and can still run marathons instead of being inside breathing through an oxygen tube and watching westerns until the cancer slowly eats away at your body.
