The high school cheerleaders have recently competed at the UIL Spirit Competition. They placed 25th out of all the 2A schools who participated. The Spirit Competition took place on January 11 at the Fort Worth Convention Center.
“The varsity cheerleaders have worked hard this year learning difficult material”, Varsity Cheer Coach Shannon Bush said. “They’ve made great progress, and I’m proud of how they’ve performed both at games and at the Spirit Competition.”
The cheerleaders look forward to the competitions, clinics, and camps they attend each year to prepare for the cheer season.
To try out cheer candidates must come to the clinic a few days before tryouts to learn the dance, cheer, and chant. Cheer tryouts will be held on March 9. The ones who make the squad will attend UCA cheer camp from June 17 through the 20 at Moody Gardens in Galveston. The 2018-2019 cheerleaders will be working with Extreme Tumble & Camp; a cheer team located in Tatum to prepare for everything.
“I love the family aspect of our team,” Co-captain Emma Adams said.
