It is a new year for Bobcat tennis. Excited players with good intentions can´t wait for the season to start! The first matches are with Joaquin and Timpson at the tennis courts on March 22.

The district meet is on April 3-4, at the Hawkins High School tennis courts. The players who win first and second will go to regional. The regional matches will be in McKinney at Boyd High School on April 18-19.

Tennis Coach April Young has high expectations for her players to advance out of the district competition and go on to regionals.

“The more kids you have involved in the program, the more likely you are to place, and the more you place is what brings home the district plaques,” Coach April said, “so the more kids you have competing, the better chance you have at winning district.”

The tennis program has grown in the past year and has gotten a lot of new players. In fact, every slot on the roster is full.

Junior Cade Coligan said, “This season is more meaningful since it’s my junior year.” He is also hopeful to win in district and go on to regionals and aspires to go to state.
